Total Building Performance and Diagnostics (TBPD)

Total Building Performance and Diagnostics (TBPD) is an integrated framework for the design project. It emphasizes the integrity of building design during the process of design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction. The aim of TBPD is to achieve high performance in architecture, including saving energy, achieving humanization design, providing appropriate indoor environment, reducing waste and etc. TBPD could facilitate optimization of the whole project and achieve occupant satisfaction, organizational flexibility, technological adaptability, environmental and energy effectiveness.

TBPD is a way of multidisciplinary and interoperability. It is based on the architectual, structual, mechanical and electrical knowledge. With the tool of computational building performance modelling, TBPD gives simulation of high performance and sustainable solutions. It also emphasizes coordination, cooperation and communication between different participants.

TBPD, as a high performance approach, it has many advantages:

  • Allow the building designers to evaluate the impact of the design on the various performance mandates.

  • Replace the inefficient field test ways and provide comprehensive test conditions.

  • Making preliminary evaluation of compex design strategies
